Welcome to the North Carolina Association of College Professors of Reading (NCACPR) website!
PURPOSES OF THE COUNCIL
1. Promote exemplary teacher education in reading and other English language arts
2. Promote research in reading and language arts
3. Help members and others stay informed relative to federal and state legislative action pertinent to reading education
4. Provide information and recommendations on matters related to reading education to local, state, and national government representatives, State Board of Education, and Department of Public Instruction personnel
5. Encourage colleagues, teachers, and college students to join the International Reading Association, the North Carolina Reading Association, and a local council.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the council is open to college and university professors of reading and English language arts and other individuals interested in supporting the purposes of the council.
DUES
Dues are $20: $10 for NCACPR membership and $10.00 goes to NCRA. The membership year begins July 1 and ends June 30.
Dues should be sent to the secretary-treasurer of the council: Ioney James, NCACPR Secretary/Treasurer, 4919 Riding Ridge Drive, Greensboro, NC 27410. Please pay by check made to NCACPR. Pay membership dues by check (made to NCACPR). Include a note indicating your current mailing address, professional affiliation, IRA membership number, and email address. You will receive an electronic receipt for tax purposes. (If you are a member of a local council, you only pay the $10.00 fee for NCACPR membership. In addition to the information above, also send Terry Atkinson the name of the local council in which you are a member.)
